Farida Tiboron Mangcaan
Farida Tiboron Mangcaan is the Head of Sub-Office Iligan of the Community and Family Services International (CFSI). She is also the Project Coordinator of the Strengthening Social Service Workforce and Other Actors for the Protection of Children (SWAPC) in the Bangsamoro Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), a project implemented by CFSI, funded by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and the European Union (EU). She is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Philippines Association of Social Workers, Incorporated (PASWI). She coaches and supervises the implementation of CFSI's support to internally displaced populations (IDPs) and children in need of special protection (CNSP) affected by the Marawi Battle of 2017 through the Home for Good Initiative (H4GI) and the at-risk indigenous children and vulnerable communities through the Children for Climate Action Project (CCAP). She mentors and supports social work interns from various academic institutions, such as the Mindanao Institute of Technology Inc., Iligan Medical Center College Foundation, and Mindanao State University, who are serving vulnerable individuals and households and marginalized groups and communities in the cities of Iligan and Marawi and the provinces of Lanao del Sur and Lanao del Norte, Mindanao, Philippines. She collaborates with EI Fellows such as Abelardo Apollo David, Jr., in the Philippines, the founder of REACH Foundation, in providing free specialized teletherapy services and other social protection services for children living with disabilities (e.g., Autism Spectrum Disorder, Attention Deficit and Hyperactive Disorder, Cerebral Palsy, Conduct Disability, Intellectual Disability, Down Syndrome, Hearing Impairment, and Epilepsy) who belong to families that are indigent and remained internally displaced due to the 2017 Marawi siege. She actively engages with Atlantic Fellows and EI Fellows across the globe in the discourse and promotion of peace, protection, mental health, and dignity, especially of children and families displaced by armed conflict and disasters, living with disabilities, and in exceptionally difficult circumstances.
