Zhang Kun

Kun Zhang is a healthcare strategist and senior leader working to transform health systems and advance digital health in China. A member of McKinsey China's healthcare leadership team, he brings together consulting, executive leadership, and entrepreneurship to drive systemic change across public and private healthcare. Since introducing consulting services to China's healthcare sector in 2005, Kun has worked with public hospitals, health governments, and public health institutions to design and deliver the country's first dedicated healthcare consulting practice.

Over more than two decades, Kun's work has spanned the full spectrum of health system transformation. As a consultant, he led strategic planning and business development for major medical brands, supported one of China's largest health check-up chains through turnaround and growth, and advised leading Asian private hospital groups on their China strategies and operational improvements. In executive roles, he served as General Manager of IT and Management for China Resources Healthcare Group- overseeing operations across more than 25,000 beds- and as General Manager of the Joint Commission International China Resources Hospital Management Academy, the first global JCI training centre. As CEO of Spring Rain Doctor Mobile Health Company, he led a successful turnaround and investment acquisition, and as Chief Strategy Officer and CEO of New Century Health Group, he guided the company through a successful Hong Kong public listing.

Kun holds a Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) from Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health, a Master's in Health Informatics from the University of Warwick, and a Bachelor's in Clinical Medicine from Peking University. These foundations across medicine, informatics, and public health continue to inform his integrated approach to health system leadership and digital innovation in China.
