Noraida Abdullah Karim
Noraida is Mindanao Programme Director at Community and Family Services International (CFSI) where she has worked for 24 years. In thisnposition, she works to improve the resilience of the Internally displace Persons (IDPs) in conflict affected areas, especially strengthen the reproductive health programs and services to alleviate issues associated with teenage pregnancies in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM). She also member of CFSI training team that trained 100 Para-Social Workers from the social Welfare Committee of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) on Knowledge and Philosophical Foundation of Social Service Catalysts in Bangsamoro Communities. Noraida has received several awards for her commitment and leadership in promoting the well-being of the IDPs, strengthening national capability in social work, and community service, including Voices of Courage, Outstanding Women in Nation’s Service, Social Justice and Social Change Awards, and most recent, “Outstanding Social Worker of the Philippines”. Noraida and her team successfully completed their second-year project focused on bridging the equity gap and reducing maternal mortality among Indigenous Peoples in Mindanao. The outcomes of the study were officially integrated into the Indigenous People’s Code in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM). In addition, the Community of Practice in Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (COP-MHPSS) project, funded by the Community Building Funds (CBF), was also successfully completed. As part of this initiative, the Bangsamoro Harmonized MHPSS Manual was developed, reproduced, and adopted by the Ministry of Health as a key reference in delivering MHPSS training. Currently, Noraida is implementing the Gender and Climate Action Project (GCAP), which aims to integrate Climate Change Adaptation and Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) into the Gender and Development (GAD) Plans of partner Local Government Units (LGUs).
