Nguyen is an official in the Office of People’s Committee of Dong Thap Province where he is responsible for healthcare and health insurance policies and works to expand health insurance coverage and health service provision.

He is particularly interested in the growing elderly population in the Mekong Delta Region in Viet Nam, which is increasing demand for healthcare and social services and financial protection.

Nguyen is also a Lecturer in the Department of Pharmacy, Dong Thap Medical College and coordinates local public health projects on tobacco control and elderly care. Nguyen is a member of the Dong Thap Province Public Health Association and vice chairman of the Pharmacy Association of Cao Lanh City.
