MANUEL J. DE VERA
Professor Manuel “Manny” J. De Vera is an Assistant Professor at the Asian Institute of Management and served as Executive Director of the AIM TeaM Energy Center for Bridging Leadership (2014–2024). He led the Future Bridging Leaders Program and the Bridging Leaders’ Initiative for Climate Resilience Fellowship, supported by Earth Security UK and the German government. Prof. De Vera is currently a Senior Evaluator for the UN’s Enhancing Resilient Communities Flagship Initiative (OCHA) and has co-led the UNDP-funded Executive Immersion for BARMM Cabinet Members. He is also part of a UK ESRC-funded research team on armed governance and conflict in the Sulu Archipelago. He has worked with the Overseas Development Institute and advised Governor Joey Salceda on disaster preparedness and climate adaptation. He previously served as Chief of Staff in the House of Representatives and was Undersecretary-designate at the Office of the President. His research interests include political settlements, public-private partnerships, conflict management, and inclusive business. He has delivered leadership and policy programs across Asia. Prof. De Vera holds a PhD in Development Studies from the University of Sussex, an MPA from Harvard Kennedy School, and a BA in Political Science from the University of the Philippines-Diliman.
