ELIZABETH ASHLEY
Professor Elizabeth Ashley is a British Infectious Diseases physician and Microbiologist who has been the Director of the Lao-Oxford-Mahosot Hospital-Wellcome Trust Research Unit (LOMWRU) in Vientiane since May 2019. She is a Professor of Tropical Medicine at the University of Oxford in the UK, and Visiting Professor of Infectious Diseases and Global Health, University of Health Sciences, Vientiane, Lao PDR. She has been based in Southeast Asia for 17 of the last 25 years, in Thailand, Myanmar and Laos. Her main interests are antimalarial therapeutics and resistance, optimal treatment of infectious diseases in low resource settings and training early career scientists.
